antique condition with considerable age-related wear. the leather binding has rubbing, surface wear and losses, particularly around the upper corners and edges. there is noticeable greenish discolouration/residue around portions of the binding, especially towards the upper corner areas. the brass clasp shows age-related patination and wear but remains an attractive feature. the page edges have darkened with age. internally there is general toning, occasional spotting and other signs of age and use. please study the photographs carefully for the exact condition.despite the wear, the combination of the 1871 date, oxford university press printing, elaborate victorian binding, gilt cross and surviving decorative clasp gives this example considerably more visual presence than a standard victorian prayer book.
