A charming antique miniature devotional set comprising the book of common prayer and its accompanying hymnal, housed together in the original fitted leather case.the common prayer volume was printed by eyre & spottiswoode, printers to the queen’s most excellent majesty, while the hymnal companion to the book of common prayer is the revised and enlarged edition published by sampson low, marston & co., london.both miniature volumes have matching black textured bindings with elegant gilt-script titles “common prayer” and “hymnal” to the fronts. their compact format and surviving fitted case make the set particularly attractive as a piece of historic christian devotional material.measurements:approx. 6.5 cm wide × 2 cm deep × 10 cm high (when housed in case).condition:
antique condition with age-related wear. the two books present attractively, with gilt lettering remaining bright. the original outer leather case shows considerably heavier wear, including rubbing, losses and deterioration around the edges and corners. please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.
